Quick answer: Starting October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can transfer points online to any other member, with no fee. Transfers are limited to one per calendar month and 6 per year.

Starting October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can transfer points to another member directly through Hyatt.com. No PDF. No email. No waiting days wondering if your form got lost.

This is the single best piece of Hyatt news this year — and given the year Hyatt has had (award chart devaluation, category changes, Chase transfers dropping to 4:3 on several cards), that’s saying something.

What changes

Until today, moving Hyatt points between members meant downloading a point-combining request form, filling in both members’ details, getting both signatures, and emailing it to Hyatt — then waiting, typically 48 to 72 hours, sometimes longer. It worked, but it felt like 2005.

Starting October 15, the whole thing happens online. Head to Hyatt’s Purchase & Gift Points page (or Account → “Gift your points” in the World of Hyatt app), which routes to Hyatt’s Points.com storefront: log in, slide to select the amount, and enter the recipient’s first name, last name, email, and World of Hyatt number. One requirement: both accounts must be open at least 60 days and in good standing.

What doesn’t change (as far as we know)

The transfer rules we’re working with:

  • Free. No fee to transfer points between members.
  • No family affiliation required. You can transfer to anyone with a World of Hyatt account — spouse, parent, friend.
  • One transfer per calendar month, max 6 per year. The old once-every-30-days rule is gone. Under the new flow you can send once per calendar month, up to 6 transfers per calendar year, max 525,000 points per transaction (and 525,000 sent or received per calendar year).

Plan accordingly — you can’t rapid-fire transfers to assemble a balance in one afternoon, but a monthly cadence is more flexible than the old 30-day clock.

Why this matters for families

This is a family-points story at its core. The most common use case: you’re 8,000 points short of an award booking, and your spouse has 12,000 sitting idle. Previously, closing that gap meant paperwork and a multi-day wait — by which time the award space could be gone.

Now it’s a same-day fix. See the award space, transfer the points, book the stay. For families juggling two or four Hyatt accounts, this turns scattered balances into one usable pool whenever you need it.

It also pairs well with a standing rule: never transfer points speculatively. With instant-ish transfers, there’s even less reason to move points before you have a confirmed booking — just transfer at the moment of need.

One more thing: Aeroplan

Hyatt announced this alongside an expanded Air Canada Aeroplan partnership — World of Hyatt members can now earn Aeroplan points on top of their usual Hyatt earnings, and there’s an Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge worth a look if you fly Air Canada. Separate story, but a nice bonus on the same day.

The bottom line

Digital transfers don’t make your points worth more. But they remove the friction that used to make combining balances a project — and for families booking award stays together, that friction was the whole problem. Check Hyatt.com starting October 15.

When do digital Hyatt point transfers start?
