Quick answer: Nine festive hotels in New York City, Europe, and Orlando are bookable on points for Christmas, but Christmas week is the hardest week of the year to book and no hotel on the list can promise a room. Hyatt prices run from 20,000 points a night at Category 6 to 75,000 at Category 8, with Park Hyatt New York from 35,000 a night but 65,000 to 75,000 at holiday peak levels.

Christmas trips are not planned in December. They are planned now, while award calendars still have something to give. That is the good news and the hard truth of festive hotels on points: every hotel below is bookable with points, but Christmas week is the hardest week of the year to book, and no hotel on this list can promise you a room over Christmas. What this list does give you is a plan. These are nine festive stays where the decorations, the markets and the location are worth the points, with the real points cost and the family booking move for each one.

A note on prices before we start. Hyatt still prices award nights on a chart, so you will see a range with a firm floor. Marriott and Hilton price dynamically, which means the points cost moves with the cash rate and the demand on your dates. Every price below is a from figure for a standard room, and you should check your exact dates before you transfer a single point. If your dates are gone, the move is rarely to give up. It is to shift a day or two, try a nearby property, or split the stay.

How the points prices work

World of Hyatt uses five price levels: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper and Top. A Category 8 hotel runs from 35,000 points at the Lowest level to 75,000 at the Top level. A Category 7 hotel runs from 25,000 to 55,000. A Category 6 hotel runs from 20,000 to 40,000. Christmas week lands at the expensive end of those ranges, which is why the from figure and the holiday figure can look very different.

Marriott Bonvoy and Hilton Honors do not publish a chart. Their award prices move with demand, so treat every figure below as a starting point for your dates, not a promise. Two perks soften the bill. Hilton gives a fifth night free on award stays to members with Silver status and up. Marriott gives a fifth night free when you book five award nights together. On a five night family trip, that is a real discount.

New York City

1. Park Hyatt New York

Program: World of Hyatt, Category 8. From 35,000 points per night.

This is the classic New York Christmas stay. The hotel sits on West 57th Street beside Central Park, a short walk from the Rockefeller Center tree and rink and the Fifth Avenue holiday windows. The rooms run 500 to 625 square feet, which is large by New York standards, with a choice of one king bed or two double beds. A room with two double beds sleeps a family of four without a second room, which is the rare part in this city.

How a family books it: Chase Sapphire Reserve points transfer to Hyatt 1:1 instantly, and Bilt points transfer 1:1 through Dec 31, 2026. The from figure is 35,000 points, but December holiday weeks price at the Upper and Top levels, 65,000 and 75,000 points. Check your dates before you transfer, and look at the nights just before or after Christmas week if the holiday nights are gone.

2. The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park

Program: Marriott Bonvoy. From about 104,000 points per night.

The Ritz-Carlton sits right on Central Park, which puts you in the middle of the New York Christmas postcard: the park, the Fifth Avenue windows and the Rockefeller Center tree are all an easy walk. The rooms are classic and quiet, a good reset after a day out in the cold with kids.

How a family books it: American Express and Chase points both transfer to Marriott 1:1. Marriott prices dynamically, so Christmas week will run above the from figure. Check the maximum occupancy of your room type before you book, since many standard rooms sleep two or three guests. A five night award stay gets the fifth night free, which helps on a longer Christmas trip.

3. Conrad New York Downtown

Program: Hilton Honors. From about 70,000 points per night.

Lower Manhattan does Christmas differently, and that is the appeal. The hotel is an all suite property, so every room gives a family room to spread out, with skyline views and a Battery Park location near the Statue of Liberty ferry. The holiday lights downtown and the Brookfield Place decorations are close by, without the Midtown crowds.

How a family books it: Bilt points transfer to Hilton 1:1 instantly, and American Express points transfer 1:2. Hilton prices dynamically, so check your dates. If you hold Silver status or higher, a five night award stay gets the fifth night free.

Europe

4. Park Hyatt Vienna

Program: World of Hyatt, Category 7. From 25,000 points per night.

Vienna is the most elegant Christmas market city in Europe, and this hotel sits in the Golden Quarter near St. Stephen’s Cathedral, in a restored early 20th century bank building. The Rathausplatz market runs Nov 13 to Dec 26, with an ice rink beside it, and the hotel’s own Bank Brasserie sits in the building’s former cashier hall.

How a family books it: Chase Sapphire Reserve points and Bilt points both transfer to Hyatt 1:1. One honest catch: the standard rooms run about 377 square feet with one king bed or two twin beds, so they sleep two guests. A family of four should price two rooms or a larger room type, and compare that total against the cash rate before committing.

5. Andaz Prague

Program: World of Hyatt, Category 6. From 20,000 points per night.

Prague at Christmas looks like a film set, and the Andaz sits in the Sugar Palace in the historic center, a short walk from Old Town Square. The Old Town Square market runs Nov 28 to Jan 6, which makes Prague one of the few markets still running after Christmas Day. That matters if your school break starts late.

How a family books it: Chase Sapphire Reserve points and Bilt points both transfer to Hyatt 1:1. Three nights from 20,000 points comes to 60,000 points per room. As in Vienna, the standard rooms run from about 269 square feet with one king bed or two twin beds, so a family of four should price two rooms or a larger room type.

6. Matild Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Budapest

Program: Marriott Bonvoy. Points price: check live pricing for your dates.

Budapest is the value pick of this list, and Matild Palace is its most beautiful hotel, a Luxury Collection property with spacious rooms and suites and views toward Elisabeth Bridge. The Advent Basilica market runs Nov 13 to Jan 1, and the thermal baths give kids a warm break from the cold that no other city on this list can match.

How a family books it: American Express and Chase points both transfer to Marriott 1:1. We could not verify a current nightly points figure for this hotel, so we are not publishing one. Price your dates on marriott.com before you transfer points, and look at the suites if you need room for four.

7. Conrad London St. James

Program: Hilton Honors. From about 66,000 points per night.

London at Christmas means Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, which runs Nov 19 to Jan 3, plus the Oxford Street lights and the West End shows. The Conrad sits in Westminster, steps from Buckingham Palace and Parliament, and it runs a Little Londoners program with family connecting rooms, kids afternoon tea and London themed welcome amenities.

How a family books it: Bilt points transfer to Hilton 1:1 instantly, and American Express points transfer 1:2. Hilton prices dynamically, so check your dates, and remember the fifth night free for members with Silver status and up on award stays.

Orlando

8. Waldorf Astoria Orlando

Program: Hilton Honors. From 90,000 points per night.

If your family wants Christmas in Orlando without staying inside Disney, this is the luxury base. The resort dresses up for the season, with pools, golf and space to breathe between park days. It sits close to Disney property, so you get the Orlando Christmas energy without the Disney hotel price tag in cash.

How a family books it: Bilt points transfer to Hilton 1:1 instantly, and American Express points transfer 1:2. Hilton prices dynamically, so check your dates. Resort fees are typically waived on Hilton award stays, which is one more saving on a resort stay.

9. Walt Disney World Swan

Program: Marriott Bonvoy. From about 40,000 points per night.

This is the single best Marriott family redemption in the country, and at Christmas it is even better. The Swan sits on Crescent Lake between EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and it is one of the only hotels on Disney property that takes hotel points. The Disney holiday season runs Nov 13 to Jan 6, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party runs on select nights Nov 8 to Dec 22 with a separate ticket, and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays runs Nov 27 to Dec 30.

How a family books it: American Express and Chase points both transfer to Marriott 1:1. Guests get early theme park entry, extended evening hours on select nights, and a walk or boat ride to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. A five night award stay gets the fifth night free, which turns a five night Christmas trip into four nights of points.

The family booking playbook

Four rules cover almost every booking in this guide to festive hotels on points. First, check the maximum occupancy of the room before you transfer points. Standard rooms at luxury hotels often sleep two or three guests, not four, and finding that out after you transfer is painful. Second, compare two rooms against one suite. At Hyatt chart hotels the math is simple, since the price per room is fixed by the chart. At dynamic hotels, run both options on your dates. Third, use the fifth night free wherever it applies. Hilton gives it to members with Silver status and up, and Marriott gives it on any five night award stay. Fourth, never transfer points until you see the award room on your dates. Points transfers do not reverse, and Christmas award rooms disappear fast.

If Christmas week itself is gone, do not give up. The week before Christmas and the first days of January are often wide open, several European markets run past New Year, and Disney’s season runs to Jan 6. A festive trip a few days off the peak is still a festive trip, and it usually costs fewer points.

Can I really book a hotel on points over Christmas week?

Yes, but Christmas week is the hardest week of the year for award rooms, so book as early as you can and stay flexible. If your exact dates are gone, try shifting a day or two, a nearby property, or a split stay.

How many points does a family of four need for a festive hotel stay?

It depends on the hotel and whether you need one room or two. As an example, three nights at Andaz Prague from 20,000 points comes to 60,000 points per room, so two rooms would be 120,000 points. A five night Marriott award stay gets the fifth night free, which lowers the total.

Do standard award rooms sleep four people?

Often they do not. Many standard rooms at luxury hotels sleep two or three guests, so always check the maximum occupancy before you transfer points. Suites, connecting rooms, or two rooms are the usual fix for a family of four.

Which program gives the best value for festive hotel stays?

Hyatt is the most predictable because award nights follow a published chart with a firm floor. Hilton and Marriott price dynamically, so the value depends on your dates. In every case, compare the points cost against the cash rate for the same room before you book.

When should I book Christmas award nights?

As early as you can. The best award rooms go first, and Christmas week sells out fastest. If you are late, check the week before Christmas or the first days of January, when several European markets and Disney’s season are still running.

What if I do not have enough points for the hotel I want?

Transfer points from a bank program only after you see the award room on your dates, since transfers do not reverse. Hilton and Marriott also let you mix points and cash on some bookings, which can close a small gap without a full transfer.
