Quick answer: Standard room awards now run from 3,000 points a night at Category 1 on a Lowest date to 75,000 points at Category 8 on a Top date, and the best Hyatt points redemptions pair a high cash rate with a low category on a Lowest or Low date. All-inclusive stays price separately by category A to F, with a Category F standard room for two guests running from 45,000 to 85,000 points a night.

The chart changed in May 2026, and old guides are now wrong

The first thing to unlearn is the old three level chart. Before May 20, 2026, World of Hyatt priced standard rooms at off-peak, standard, and peak rates. On May 20, 2026, Hyatt replaced those three levels with five levels: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, and Top. The eight hotel categories stayed, and the separate charts for all-inclusive resorts, Miraval resorts, club rooms, and suites moved to five levels at the same time.

This is the chart for standard rooms at Hyatt hotels and resorts, excluding all-inclusive resorts, Miraval resorts, and Mr and Mrs Smith properties. Prices are points per night.

835,00045,00055,00065,00075,000

Two rules make this chart useful for families. First, standard room awards carry no blackout dates on the Hyatt free nights page: a standard room on sale for cash can generally be booked with points. Second, resort fees and destination fees are waived on award nights. One limit: unlike some programs, World of Hyatt does not offer a fifth night free, so a five night stay costs five nights of points.

How to read the chart like a family, not like a collector

The chart prices by category, not by what the hotel charges in cash. Value comes from the gap between the two. A Category 5 hotel that charges a high cash rate on a given week is a far better redemption than a Category 5 hotel with a modest cash rate, even though both cost the same points on the same level. The Hyatt points redemptions rule has two parts: pick an expensive hotel in a low category, and then pick a cheap date inside it. A Category 5 room at 15,000 points on a Lowest date is a different deal from the same room at 35,000 points on a Top date, even when the cash rate is identical.

For families, the calendar view on hyatt.com is the tool that matters most. Search with points turned on, look across a month, and let the Lowest and Low dates choose the trip when dates are flexible. When dates are fixed by school holidays, compare the points price against the cash rate for those exact dates before booking.

All-inclusive stays: the family math is different

Hyatt prices its Inclusive Collection resorts on a separate chart, lettered A to F rather than numbered 1 to 8. The standard room price covers two guests, not the room at any occupancy. Food, drink, and most activities are included, which is why an all-inclusive award can look expensive in points and still be strong value: one award replaces a room plus meals.

B15,00020,00025,00030,00035,000

F45,00055,00065,00075,00085,000

The family trap is the third and fourth guest. Each guest beyond two costs extra points per night, at half the standard room price for the same category and level in most cells. At Category F, that means 22,500 points per extra guest on a Lowest date and 42,500 points on a Top date.

Do the family of four math before falling for a headline rate. At Category F on a Lowest date, one room for four guests costs 90,000 points: 45,000 points for two guests plus 22,500 points for each extra guest. Two rooms with two guests each also total 90,000 points, so choose on space.

One verified example shows the range. Hyatt Ziva Cancun, the family friendly all-inclusive in the Cancun Hotel Zone, sits at Category F, so a standard room for two guests runs from 45,000 points on a Lowest date to 85,000 points on a Top date. Hyatt Zilara Cancun beside it sits at Category E, so it runs from 35,000 to 75,000 points for two guests. Families booking Ziva should aim at Lowest or Low dates and book early.

Suites on points: when the bigger room is the point

Families often need a suite for space: a separate sleeping area for kids, a second bathroom, or room for a crib. Hyatt books suites on points on their own chart, and the premium over a standard room is fixed by category and level rather than by cash price.

At Category 5, a standard suite runs from 27,000 points on a Lowest date to 47,000 points on a Top date, while a premium suite runs from 30,000 to 50,000 points. At Category 8, a standard suite runs from 56,000 to 96,000 points, while a premium suite runs from 70,000 to 110,000 points. Suite awards depend on the hotel releasing suite inventory, so availability is thinner than standard room availability.

There is a cheaper suite route that families should check first. On a paid stay, points can upgrade a standard room to a club room for 3,000 points per night, to a standard suite for 6,000 points per night, or to a premium suite for 9,000 points per night. That upgrade price is flat across every category and level, so upgrading a paid stay at a Category 8 resort to a standard suite for 6,000 points a night can beat booking the suite outright, when the upgrade is available and the paid rate is reasonable.

The splurge tier: Category 7, Category 8, and Miraval

Category 7 and Category 8 hold the aspirational stays, and date choice is decisive there. A Category 7 standard room runs from 25,000 points on a Lowest date to 55,000 points on a Top date. A Category 8 standard room runs from 35,000 to 75,000 points. A recent booking example cited a standard room at Alila Ventana Big Sur at 55,000 points, the Category 7 Top price. At Top pricing, only a very high cash rate justifies the award.

Miraval resorts sit outside the hotel chart entirely, on their own chart, and they are a different kind of trip: wellness focused, with meals, snacks, fitness classes, and wellness activities included, plus a 175 dollar resort credit per person per night on award stays. Four Miraval resorts are bookable with points: Miraval Arizona, Miraval Austin, Miraval Berkshires, and Miraval The Red Sea. A standard room runs from 40,000 points for one guest on a Lowest date to 75,000 points on a Top date, and from 60,000 points for two guests on a Lowest date to 95,000 points on a Top date.

Mr and Mrs Smith properties are the exception to everything above. Hyatt does not apply the fixed award chart to those hotels. They price dynamically, so check the live points price for exact dates and compare it against cash.

Getting the points: transfers and pooling

Most families build a Hyatt balance from Chase Ultimate Rewards points, and the card used for the transfer now sets the rate. Since October 1, 2026, transfers from the Chase Sapphire Reserve to World of Hyatt stay at 1 to 1, so 1,000 Chase points become 1,000 Hyatt points. Transfers from the Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Business Preferred moved to 4 to 3 on the same date, so 1,000 Chase points become 750 Hyatt points. A 20,000 point Category 4 Moderate night therefore costs 20,000 Chase points from a Reserve card but about 26,667 Chase points from a Preferred or Ink card.

Transfers are generally final, so confirm the award exists for the whole family at the expected price before moving any points. Since October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can also transfer Hyatt points to another member online.

Points go furthest when the cash rate is high, the category is low, and the date is cheap. Pick the trip type first, price the whole family on all-inclusive stays, compare a suite booked outright against a paid stay plus a flat upgrade, and confirm the award before transferring. Book the strong combination when it appears, and pay cash when the chart offers only a Top date at an ordinary hotel. What is the cheapest Hyatt award night in 2026?

A Category 1 standard room on a Lowest date costs 3,000 points per night, while the same room on a Top date costs 9,000 points. The date matters as much as the category.

What happened to off-peak, standard, and peak pricing?

Hyatt retired those three levels on May 20, 2026 and replaced them with five levels: Lowest, Low, Moderate, Upper, and Top. Category 8 rose from a 45,000 point peak ceiling to a 75,000 point Top ceiling. Any guide still quoting the old three levels is out of date.

How many points does a Hyatt all-inclusive stay cost for a family of four?

All-inclusive awards price for two guests, with extra points for each guest beyond two. At Category F on a Lowest date, one room for four costs 90,000 points a night, and two rooms with two guests each cost the same 90,000 points. Choose on space, not on points saved.

Are suites a good use of Hyatt points for families?

Suites can be a good use when the family needs the space and the cash price of the suite is high. At Category 5, a standard suite runs from 27,000 to 47,000 points a night depending on level. Compare booking outright against a paid stay plus a flat upgrade of 6,000 points per night for a standard suite, when that upgrade is available.

Does a Chase Sapphire Preferred transfer to Hyatt at 1 to 1?

No, not since October 1, 2026. Transfers from the Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Business Preferred run at 4 to 3, so 1,000 Chase points become 750 Hyatt points. Only the Sapphire Reserve keeps the 1 to 1 transfer to Hyatt among Chase cards named here.

Do Hyatt points work at Mr and Mrs Smith hotels?

Yes, but those hotels do not use the fixed award chart. They price dynamically, so check the live points price for exact dates and compare it against paying cash.
